THE VALEYARD
The Dark Side of The Doctor

Michael Jayston first appeared as The Valeyard in the Trial of a Time Lord season which was to be Colin's last season as The Doctor. Michael's terrific portrayal as the dark side of The Doctor, in his 13th life, was a deft one.

This was his first appearance on Doctor Who. The Valeyard was a wonderful character to watch. Placed in charge of the prosecuting brief at the Trial, The Valeyard's goal was to find The Doctor guilty in order to receive, as his prize, the rest of the Doctor's regenerations - thus allowing him to live on for many more years.

A Valeyard script for the never-made season 27 was sitting on the desk of Doctor Who producer, John Nathan Turner, when the program was finally axed for ever in 1989. We have WORLD EXCLUSIVE rights to this story on The Emissary of Death page. The story would have reunited The Valeyard with The Doctor (albeit, with the 7th Doctor!) and Ace in Whitchapel, London, around the time of the Jack The Ripper Slayings.

Michael was born on October 29, 1935 and below is a selection of his tv and film credits:
