The ART of

BARBARA McLEAN

* ABOUT THE ARTIST *

BARBARA McLEAN was born and educated in London, England. She emigrated to Canada in 1970, and presently lives in Chesterville, Ontario.

Barbara has been an Elvis fan since the age of eleven, and in late 1989, when she renewed her interest in her teen hobby of painting and sketching, Elvis again became her favourite subject.

Barbara and her Elvis protraits have received much attention. She has been interviewed both on Canadian television and radio, and she has won numerous awards at the International Elvis Art Concert organized by Elvis Presley Enterprises and held in Memphis each August. Her trophies include three first place ribbnons, an Award of Excellence, and an Award of Outstanding Achievement.

Barbara feels lucky to be a licensee of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., and honoured to have been asked by them in 1995 to participate in an exclusive showing of her work, as one of the Graceland sponsored events for Elvis Week that year.

It is clear when talking with this artist that she is very serious about her Elvis art, and about using it to support several charities in Elvis' name. A percentage from sales of her artwork is donated to the Elvis Presley Memorial Dinner Charity Event, hosted by Ms. Marian Cocke (Elvis' nurse) in Memphis each August, and funds raised at this event are distributed between several charities, including the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, the Elvis Presley Scholarship Foundation, the Humane Society, Cerebal Palsy, and Special Olympics to name a few.

Barbara is also president, Editor and Secretary of a small Elvis Fan Club called "Catch the Spirit". This club may not be large by some standards, but works hard nevertheless at its goal of raising money for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

A special thank you is extended to Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. for their continued help and co-operation.

NOTE: ALL OF BARBARA McLEAN'S ART WORKS OF ELVIS HAVE BEEN LICENSED BY E.P.E. TO BE SOLD ON THE INTERNET
