action
figure times The Mego Spidey was my first
figure ever. Still have it. Only one that survived the return from Europe.
I adore these dolls...yes
I called them dolls....and I don't care what you think...since I was a
kid and my dad bought me those mego Spiderman and Batman and Robin action
figures with real cloth clothing and those freaky little shoes the Robin
wore... I was hooked...NOTHING smells better to me than action figure just
out of the package. And for those of you who DON'T open your figures and
who squirrel them away in a dark box, there is of course a special room
in Hell for you so I am satisfied...all I will say is these are TOYS people..they
are meant to be open...but they are cool works of popular culture too...wait
till you see the display cases I am building. Too Cool. But the ones above
are my favs so far...custom made....very nice...what follows are some pics
from my own collection which happily grows monthly. Ah the obsessions of
childhood.
The case on the left was
found at the mall by my Father. We customized it and its perfect for showing
off the figures and keeping them dust free... and DUST is the scourge of
the action figure collector. The KISS ones are amoung my favorites because
of the SCULPTING (which to me is the real reason I love these things)...we
live in the GOLDEN AGE of action figures when some really obscure characters
have been rendered in plastic...I mean MODOK?!? PRINCESS WHATSHERNAME?!?
On the right are my two GALACTI which are my two favorite figures. He is
the Devourer of Worlds afterall.
And of course the gorgeous
BETA RAY BILL figure.
Here again you can see examples
of some gorgeous SCULPTING. Especially APOCALYPSE and the SWARM figure.Who
cannot admire a guy made of bees. And of course EL SEED...
love those South American
Sunflower Dictators.
The first two figures that
I scanned using my flatbed scanner...very impressed with how they turned
out. The Dr. Strange was the first figure that I bought to start my collection.
I usually go for the sculpting and both these figures are excellent examples
of that.
