Dia Duit

Merry Meet! This is the little section of the page where I welcome you, and let you know that all of the material contained within is the property of my head. As to the meaning of the words, they are free to be taken as you will. I have no affiliation with any particular group, and tho I may have opinions about your beliefs, I sure as hell wouldn't think of trying to change them. So, respect me, even if you don't agree with me, and I'll do the same for you. I am a conglomerate, my beliefs tend to run through most of the esoteric philosophies at one time or another. So, if you happen to see something here that interests you, or you want me to explain further, or you just want to chat or debate an issue, please click the little email button at the bottom of the page and send me a note.

Ta diabhal, inti...

Before I begin, I should note that there should be a fada over the 'a' in 'Ta', but this program won't do it. For those of you who don't recognize the language, it is Irish Gaelic. I'll be using it sporadically, so if you wnat a translation, either wait for me to finish the graphics (whicch could be a year) or just email me and ask. It's so much more fun than just telling you! Anyway, this little project of mine is more of a get your head together thing than an actual thesis on the topic. Maybe it will be become that. Right now I just want to get the basics of my theology down and some explainations of why I believe what I do. Philosophy and religion are nearly inseparable concepts, and I tend to treat them as such. Some of what you read will be so blatantly obvious, you'll wonder why I bothered to type it, and some of it will go over your head, maybe even around it. I've done the reasearch, I've lived the experiences, what I don't have is enough input from other people to challenge me and clarify certain areas of thought. Obviously, I don't have thoughts or answers about questionns I've never asked myself. Neither do you. Maybe we can help each other out. After all, the goal is to know ourselves better.

Is Mian Liom

Paganism. What is it? A concept, an idea of something not quite normal? A sign that whoever follows a certain belief is sure to burn in the firey depths of your own personal hell? (See the glossary for common terms you think you know the meaning of, but really don't.) Paganism is the term used for ANY RELIGION not followed by the majority. In ancient Rome, Christians were the pagans. Now, everyone is a pagan somewhere in the world. Christian's call everyone who doesn't believe their particular brand of Christianity, pagans. Muslims call Christianity as a whole, paganism. Taking this all into consideration, I have developed my own definition and practical use of the word. I am a practicing Pagan, capital p. I believe that everything has its roots in something else. History has taught us this. Unfortunately, the belief systems and structures of our ancient ancestors are rather difficult to determine. We assume that since they were less progressed (by this, I mean evolved, but I want to stay away from the term because evolution has taken away as much as it has given and I want to remain strictly in the realm of progress as it relates to written language, and stay away from any commentary on the cultures of the past), they left no written evidence of what they thought, and we have no idea how much has been lost to antiquity, that their beliefs were somehow wrong, or silly. But in truth, their ideas were no sillier than ours. They used what they knew to suggest an answer for that which they didn't. We continue to do this today. Every one of us does. We have a more detailed, technical view of the world, but still we rely on faith to give us the answers we can not know. We group ourselves into religions based on our shared views. The problem occurs when we forget that faith and truth are not synonomous. What we believe is not neccessarily what is, and therefore, how can we honestly look at another individual and say 'you are wrong'. So, here it is: I believe differently than you. And there is absolutly nothing wrong with that.

Pagan

I am Pagan.
I am the product of my life.
I am a piece of the whole. I am the whole.
I am different than you. I am exactly the same as you.
I am better than you. I am worse than you.
I am smarter than you. I am dumber than you.
I am alive.
I am.
