Tracy Vetter
(Lisa Ryder)
The Character
Tracy Vetter. It's an upbeat name for an upbeat kind o' gal. She was one of the finest homicide detectives at the Ninety-Sixth precinct of Toronto's Metro Police force, though often underrated. Tracy became Nick Knight's partner in the Third season. She certainly had very little in common with Nick's former partner, Donald Schanke. No one would ever find Detective Vetter munching on a souvlaki over her latest case at the morgue.
The Actor
A 1992 graduate of the University of Toronto Drama program, Lisa Ryder is one of Canada's fastest rising stars. In addition to her drama degree, Ryder has studied ballet at the Edmonton School of Ballet, and jazz dance at Toronto's Metro Movement and the Improv at Second City.
Credits
Already an accomplished stage actress, she has appeared in numerous productions including "Sleepers Awake!" at Theatre Centre East and "Trembling Tongues"for the Toronto Fringe. In addition, she has co-written, choreographed and appeared in "Cafe Naked," "Painting Of The Victors" and her one-woman show at the Rhubarb Festival, "Put Me Away."
On television, Ryder has been seen as Alana in "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" (episode - 'Magic Trick'), as Angela Mosler in the '94-'95 (second) season of "Forever Knight" (episode - 'Beyond The Law' 39K), then returned full-time in the third season as Nick's new partner, Detective Tracy Vetter (15K). Most recently Lisa Ryder appeared in a season of the CBC drama "Newsroom." She also played the leading role of Kim in Bruno Pacheco's film "City of Dark" (now available for purchase on video), and Gene Roddenbury's "Earth: The Final Conflict" as Boone's wife.
