Blade
Blade, an action/horror flick based off of the Marvel Comics charater. Although I love comics, I'll be the first to admit, on the most part, the movies suck. I went into Blade with low expectations. I was pleasently surprised. The opening scene was enough to get even my short attenion. The Fx were awsome, though I don't know why the insist on blowing people up, it never looks real. The plot is a little slow in parts but the action makes up for it. It's a mix of a vampire horror movie and a hong kong action flick. In other words the action is bigger than live, but hey, they aren't human so doing the things they do makes a little more sense. I was concerned about Wesley playing Blade, but in the end he wasn't a bad choice. They strayed slightly from the comics established character but left it reconizably enough that fans would still know who he is. I think this movie was a lot of fun, and definatly worth a rental at the store. BTW, I already heard roumors of the sequel in which Blade will take on Moribius the living vamprie. Now that could be cool.

Halloween: H20
What can I say, when I heard Jamie Lee Curtis (THE Scream Queen) was returning to the franchise that kicked off her career I was excited. Very excited. However the title worried me. (It was Halloween: The Revenge of Laurie Strode at the time) However a lot of fans started calling it H20 becuase it was the 20th anniverery of the first Halloween. I guess the title stuck since that was the title it was relesed with. I had big hopes for this film...I hate to say I was kinda let down. While not a horrible movie, it was way too short for its own good. Many of the teens in the movie were...well cannon fodder. You knew who would live and who would die, no big surprise. You didn't really care if they got hacked up either. Mr. Meyers has definately done better. However Jamie Lee saves this movie. The scene when she grabbes the axe and goes hunter her brother (Myers in case you didn't know) was awsome. I wish they'd played on the borther vs. sister aspect more. It made the ending more dramatic. Ok, now for the spoiler so if you haven't seen it, read no further. I think the ending was perfect, as Jamie finally lays Meyers to rest by cutting his head off! (Of course if they want to continue the series they'll find a way to bring him back) However this seemed like a good ending.

Preacher
Preacher is the ongoing story of one Jesse Custard. Jesse is possesed by a being known as Genisis (the offspring of an angel and demon) giving Jesse the power of the Word (of God) Basicly he says it, you do it. Jesse is on a quest to find God, who is no longer in heaven but somewhere here on earth, and confront him about the sorry state of the earth today. And if he doesn't like what he hears he plans on making him pay. Weird huh? Well I haven't even gotten to his ex-hitwoman ex/current girlfriend Tulip, and his hard drinking Irish vampire buddy Cassidy. (Who have joined Jessie on his quest) Not to mention a supporting cast with names like Arse Face, Starr, The Saint of Killers, and many more. This is one of the best written comics out today. Guarenteed to entertain, and to offend every issue. Not for the weak of heart, contains graphic depictions, mature subject matter, and very dark (sick) humor. If you like Quentien Tarintino's movies you'll love Preacher. Written by Garth Ennis Monthly from DC/Vertigo. $2.95 Suggested for Mature Readers (18 and up)
Roumors are floating around that a movie is in the works.
