X-Files
Recruits Terminator
It's not quite like being named the new James Bond, but filling in for David Duchovny on The X-Files isn't exactly chopped liver.
Robert Patrick, who's best known as the menacing liquid-metal T-1000 Terminator in T-2 has won the X-Files sweepstakes. He'll join Scully (Gillian Anderson) as she searches for Mulder (Duchovny), who's been (ahem) abducted by aliens.
Scully might be rightfully suspicious of her new partner: We all remember what happened when Mulder got saddled with a certain new recruit by the name of Alex Krycek.
Gail Berman, Fox's new entertainment president, announced the casting this morning at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Besides that indelible appearance in T2, Patrick's had roles in Copland, Striptease, and TV's The Sopranos. He's also, appropriately enough, had alien encounters in The Faculty and Fire in the Sky. He also co-stars in the equine epics All the Pretty Horses, out this fall, and Texas Rangers, due next spring.
