Myth and Magick
Crafts
The crafts that you and I rarely think of as pagan can be! With a little help from Mother Nature:) For example:
Popsicle sticks and glue:
My home is covered with little pentagrams, Triple Moon symbols etc. and you are teaching shapes and geometry at the same time! What a fun way to expand those tiny brains:)
Playdough:
Ever watched a child create the Goddess in playdough? Now that is fun!! Go to the library and pick up a few books on ancient mythology, get a few pictures of some of the ancient atrwork and sculptures and then each of you try to recreate them! A new spin on a very ancient method of tuning in to the Goddess!!
Papermache:
You can pick this up pre-made at most craft and hobby stores. Fill a balloon up until it is round....create a full moon...with Mom/Dad adding the craters and such.....use a little glow in the dark poster paint and suspend from the ceiling....a very cool addition to bedroom or playroom!
Cookie dough;
Sugar cookie dough is the best to create almost anything! And of course you get the benefit of enjoying the yummies when you are done! Make moons, stars, pentagrams, faeries, anything their little minds can imagine!
Sticks and Stones:
My sons love to collect sticks, stones, leaves and berries! Make sure you teach them to thank the trees, bushes, flowers and earth for the offerings given to them!! They will learn to appreciate the earth in a whole new way!
Create collages, wands, decorate brooms, make wallhangings. You will be amazed at the energy that surrounds the items your child brings home for they are more intune as a child than most are as adults. Teach them to "feel" the earths energies and to recognize what just feels right! Trust their instincts..they are too young to have learned doubt:)
